• Considerably light for a tripod of this weight capacity and easy to carry with the foam grip
• Feels good in your hands, it is clearly well built with an eye for detail
• Quick release plate does its job, the locking mechanism is fairly easy to use and is secure when locked properly

• Plastic leg locks will eventually wear over time

The Induro AKB1 is a great choice for those on a budget. It is light enough for photo trips (including hiking) and yet supports a capacity of almost 13 pounds!  The legs should be sufficient for most tasks and it can be raised to 1.58 meters with the column extended. I highly recommend this tripod for budget users as it provides a good value for what you get. I’m not big on words so I hope the pictures and the video provide this tripod justice!

My plans for the three days in San Francisco have not yet been finalized, mainly due to school and other frivolous activities . I was hoping for at least one day of clear skies but the chances of that are pretty grim. It should be okay though, since shooting in cloudy conditions is actually beneficial for photographers during the day when the sun can be powerful. Spotty showers are expected so hopefully no torrential downpours. As for equipment I be bringing the D90 paired with the Tamron 17-50 2.8 and the Nikkor 70-300VR. I considered bringing my new Induro AKB1 tripod but the elevated security measures will make it difficult for me to carry on equipment of that nature (tripods are a grey area for the TSA). My Bogen-Manfrotto table tripod should be sufficient for the majority of the trip.

As some of you know I’m also an aviation fanatic so traveling can bring me the best of both worlds…and did I mention the food? I’ll keep you guys updated throughout the course of this trip.

A sleek and simple design keeps this hard drive stylish.

Shipping was prompt by UPS and the hard drive was padded well in the box. As with most products, the Passport Elite is packaged in a hard plastic shell. Western Digital provides a USB 2.0 cable, carrying bag, and the hard drive itself. In addition, the Elite version includes back up software, built-in encryption and remote access capability. The titanium finish is certainly improved over the non-elite’s plastic cheap shell. It feels good in your hands and can be easily put in your pocket. Western Digital has generously given a 5 year warranty (elite only) that will definitely come in handy for when something happens. Many hard drives don’t survive a 5 year cycle so the warranty is a huge plus.

Indicator lights tell you how much storage is left.

The Western Digital My Passport Elite is a great portable storage device for photos, movies, music and etc. There is a new Passport currently on sale but this design reigns supreme.  I highly recommend anyone searching for more portable storage to take a look at what this drive has to offer.
